Arts Village, Lerep

It is difficult to find tourist resort in Semarang. I mean here is (truly) nature tourist resort. Semarang only has a few of it. Some of them that I've visited are Kreo Cave, Ngrembel ourbound area, Maerokoco, Watu Gong temple and Marina beach.But, finally I found beautiful nature tourist resort near Semarang that really suitable with my taste.
The name is " Lerep art village". This chilly place is located in the slope of Ungaran Mountain. It is called as art village becauseb the owner, Handoko, an art lover wants to realize his idea to give a free broad area for the artist to express their talents.
In lerep I found study center for the visitor. I mean the Pekalongan and Lasem Batik craftsman, Kasongan and Klaten ceramics maker, Jepara wood craftsman, etc will help you if you want to try making any arts there. You just only need to pay 10- 30 thousand rupiahs for it.
If you are lucky, you can see drama or musical theater there ( Ketoprak, Tayub,wayang orang, Java traditional dance, wayang wong, wayang potehi, etc)that usually perform 3 to 4 times per year.
You can also visit the library and cafe in Lerep. The library has some books, journals, documents, and etc, while the cafe sells cofee, tea, and some foods.
The greatest news is you don't need to pay the tickets to enter Lerep art village, even the artist can stay for a moment or display their creations there freely.
I really satisfy with this place. I hope the manager will always take care of it and develop it to be better and better again.
